Mombrini’s venture into the industrial sector began almost by chance back in 1955 when we had occasion to re-tile various units in MOTTA’s confectionery factory. With the modesty and conviction of our own means, a feature which has always set us apart, MOMBRINI carried out experiments, which during the course of the following years gave such good results that in 1962 its tilers laid their first floor in resin sealed klinker in the butter section of the SORINESE dairy; even today this floor is in perfect condition; amongst these tilers was Gianni Mombrini himself who since then has directed every effort to improve tiling techniques and the organisation of the company which he runs today; it is a structure which counts upon 15 teams of tilers amongst its employees as well as a staff of more than 20 technicians and collaborators in the new CARAVAGGIO (BG) headquarters which occupies an area of 12,000 square meters.
According to MOMBRINI’s technicians industrial floors in klinker sealed with epoxy resin represent the best solution for the majority of uses where mechanical stress can be an important factor in production areas in the food industry as well as others. If we take a look at the possible alternatives it seems that even at the present there are no valid solutions, not only from the aesthetic point of view, but also in terms of durability. A series of innumerable improvisers in the field of both tiled floors and other types of floor, unfortunately leads to the thoughtless use of quality products, proposing rapid and superficial solutions, which over time are destined to require continual maintenance. By way of confirmation of the excellent performance that the resin filled klinker floor can give, MOMBRINI has submitted a sample to the laboratory at the Centro Ceramico di Bologna which has positively certified the surface’s lack of slipperiness in different conditions (average coefficient of attrition) as well as the results of resistance tests: mechanical, abrasion resistance to the most common chemicals.
