Descrivere in maniera schematica una corretta e non improvvisata esecuzione di pavimenti in piastrelle è praticamente impossibile e sarebbe come racchiudere l’esperienza di oltre quarant’anni dei posatori della MOMBRINI in poche e sommarie osservazioni; vediamo però brevemente quali sono le fasi più importanti.

1 – PREPARATION OF THE FLOOR FOUNDATION

When the characteristics of the concrete spread on the floor are optimal (porosity, mixture water/cement, size of the grain etc.), the surface of the foundation has to be “closed” with MOMQUARZ, then the upper part is levelled with the “helicopter”. If the analysis with the screed requires it, first the surface has to be squared to guarantee the ideal fixing.

2 – TILING

The perfect fixing of the tile to the floor foundation is guaranteed, not only by the nature of the floor foundation (as described above), but also by the use of jasper in the rendering mixture, the pressing down of each individual tile, then the filling of the tile base and in particular the “dove-tail”, typical for drawn tiles and in particular those of the LARIA company.

3 – FLOOR SEALING

This can be considered the most critical point of every floor but at the same time the strong point in MOMBRINI’s technology. The accurate choice of the type of resin, the analysis of the variables which determine the nature of the catalyst, the correct mixture of the quartz grains, the mixing carried out at the work site, the application of pressure during tiling, joint by joint, by trowel and not by spreading, and last of all cleaning up using special machinery and a suitable detergent for the preparation of the floor cloth and the flush smoothing of the fissure: these, in brief, are the stages of a study which began in 1962 and which is not yet finished.

4 – SKIRTING

The skirting is inserted into special perimetral fissures; it is fixed to the wall and follows the line of the floor giving a sense of continuity between the horizontal and the vertical plane. Indeed, as can be seen in the following pages, the skirting can be made of the same material as the floor or can be glazed.

5 – DRAIN COVERS

From what has been said it would seem that most of the work has been carried out; however, this is not so. Indeed if we exclude special cases, such as very low temperature storage rooms ( – 20°C / -40°C) or ovens for mortadella (+120°C), the plastering which has shown the most resistance to wear and aggressive substances over the years is definitely that in resin, that is if it has been correctly carried out.

6 – TILING WALL

The points made about the characteristics of the floor foundation surface can also be made about the roughness of the plaster (if you don’t want to have recourse to special additives in the adhesive) in order to have an excellent fixture of the base of the tile.
A simple trick allows tiling to be accelerated and guarantees that the tiles are perfectly horizontal; just place a piece of string of the desired thickness between one tile and the other. Verticalness however is guaranteed by using a plumb line in alignment with the modular grill of the floor. The tiler’s experience is however at the base of the result of the tiling.

7 – GUARD RAIL

GR è un muretto paracolpi prefabbricato modulare ideale per raccordare senza spigoli vivi le pareti dei locali di lavorazione con il pavimento e dare loro un ottimo grado di protezione. È costituito da un pezzo monolitico di resina ottenuto per colata in uno stampo e può essere montato anche sopra un pavimento esistente senza opere di demolizione per l’incasso. Il fissaggio è realizzato tramite l’impiego di collanti e resine specifiche.
Nel caso della posa ad “incasso” è consigliabile installare i pezzi su un fondo preparato qualche millimetro più basso della mattonella in fianco.
Nel caso della posa sopra un pavimento esistente (anche non su piastrelle: resina, CLS, etc.) è preferibile stendere un collante sul piano di posa, mettere il Guard rail e poi pulire il materiale in eccedenza.
